Presentation

As this assignment is in conjunction with the format festival (one of the UK's largest photography and related media festivals) the presentation of the images is very important. The collections produced by each artist will be displayed in and around the city of Derby. 

With my first idea I was planning on displaying the contrasting work side by side, but I decided agains this idea. 

After changing the idea to a more streamlined project of only using the architectural images. I tried out a number of different options. These ideas are bellow. 

I knew I wanted the building with the atmospheric clouds as the largest image, this is my personal favourite image from the collection and I believe its the strongest image. The rest of the images were constructed around it. 

As there were three landscape and three portrait images I wanted to possition them together. With the portraits together and the three landscape's together it left me with a few options. I have made different combinations, these are bellow.  

Idea 1.

I really like the lines this at this image incorporates, the three portraits images match the lines of the centre image and the centre image matches the lines of the landscape images. 

Idea 2.
This image is the same as the one above but has not been cropped tight to the images. 

 Idea 3. 
The same lines are apparent in this collection but the entire collection seems to have an overlying downward flow. 
The different sizes of the image make this an interesting layout. It lets the viewers eye differentiate the different layers of the collection, helping you focus on individual images easier. 
From a distance the flow changes, both the top and bottom layer focus the viewers eye on the large central image.  

If I were to present my work at the format festival, this would be the layout I would use. It is the most effective of the layouts and features the best visual flow.
